'This place is what the neighbourhood has needed'

Named after a mis-spelled letter to the Ubiquitous Chip (owned by Colin's dad) we opened the pub in February 2004 after totally refurbishing what was the old Hub bar.

We wanted it to have all the charisma of a Stravaigin bar, with the ethos of innovative food and drink. Designed with an Art Deco feel the construction of the bar used large amounts of reclaimed material- old flagstone flooring, bank counter for the bar, school science desk.

In fact, the décor itself delves into Scotland's past, each item having its own story to tell. (Over 120 years old dogs paw print imbedded in an old brick!)

With the menu we have tried to steer clear of a restaurant format and we are serving more Mediterranean style food - much more along the lines of a Spanish bar where you can get tasty nibbly bits prepared by the guy behind the bar. It's all very simply done, with no fuss.

With weekly Quiz Nights, Acoustic Music Performances and Live DJ Sets there is always a good reason to swing by.

The Liquid Ship is divided into two bars available for private functions.
